The ideal understanding of what anyone puts in his or her body is that the consumer should know exactly what went into making his or her meal. Checking the ingredient labels on a frozen dinner or a candy bar to see what type of additives and natural flavors the company incorporated into the product is considered a standard. The authors h ave many similar ideas to show that GM foods should be reconsidered or be more thoroughly explained to the public to educate them on this topic. While there may be benefits in modifying our daily bread such as incorporating additional vitamins to foods that originally did not contain them and reducing the use of pesticides, there are prominent risks that should not be over looked for the sake of a person’s health. Genetically Modified foods were first developed in order to produce a more plentiful and successful harvest for farmers. Through gene manipulation, super seeds are produced in hope to withstand harsh weather and reduce insect infestation. The three articles stand against the production of these forced mutation organisms however the authors know this technique for farming will continue to thrive making it unstoppable. They all acknowledge the fact that most United States consumers are not fully aware of what exactly GM foods are made of.
